Overview

This policy explains how Flip Drop, developed by Clark Sandholtz, collects, uses, and stores information. Account and gameplay information is used only to provide friends and leaderboards. Support correspondence is used to respond to requests.

Flip Drop does not sell personal information or use it for advertising or tracking. The app contains no ads, analytics, crash reporting, or third-party SDKs that transmit data.

Account and gameplay information

Flip Drop automatically creates an account when the app is first opened. No sign-in, email address, or password is required. The service stores:

  • Account information: a randomly generated player ID, friend code, display name, account creation and last-active times, and friendships.
  • Completed game results: the deck played, game mode, daily-puzzle date if applicable, cards cleared, win or loss, best chain, table clears, expert-mode status, duration, and completion time.

Display names default to “Player” and can be changed. A real name is not required or verified. The app does not collect device or advertising identifiers or information about your phone.

The game can be played offline. Completed game results are queued and submitted when a connection is available.

Use and disclosure

Display names and game scores are visible to other players on each deck’s Everyone leaderboard, and to friends on the Friends and weekly leaderboards. Friend codes are displayed only to their owner. Players add friends by exchanging these codes.

Flip Drop uses Fly.io for hosting and Cloudflare for backup storage. Apart from leaderboard and friend visibility, account and gameplay information is shared only with the infrastructure providers supporting the service and its backups.

The server uses IP addresses temporarily to limit request rates and does not log requests. Fly.io may process IP addresses and connection metadata under its own policies. All communication between the app and the service uses HTTPS.

The Share button opens the operating system’s share sheet with a text summary of a game result. You choose whether to share it and which recipient or service receives it.

Information stored on your device

Game statistics, streaks, best scores, daily-puzzle history, preferences, and the selected card back are stored on the device. These local records remain on the device; completed game results are submitted separately as described above.

An account credential is also stored on the device and sent to the service to authenticate requests.

Apple or Google may include local app information in device or cloud backups, depending on platform settings. These backups are managed by the platform provider and are not accessible to Flip Drop’s developer.

Retention and deletion

To request account deletion, email clarkdotdev+flipdrop@gmail.com. Account deletion removes the player record, game results, and friendships from the service. Deleted data may remain in service backups for up to 30 days.

Uninstalling the app removes its active local data but does not delete the server account. Platform-managed backups may remain until deleted through the platform’s backup settings or policies.

Support correspondence

Emailing support provides your email address, message, and any information you choose to include. This correspondence is used only to address your request. To request deletion of a support conversation, reply to that conversation.

Children’s privacy

Flip Drop is not directed to children under 13.
